The Travel Network Group’s May conference shaping up well

‘Shaping your Future’ is the theme at the centre of all activities at The Travel Network Group’s Conference to be held May 17– 19 2013.

Already over 150 of the Group’s members, together with 63 business partners, have signed up to attend the 2-day programme hosted inLake Bled, Slovenia.

Gary Lewis, Group Managing Director, The Travel Network Group said: “We have chosen ‘shaping your future’ as the conference theme this year to reflect the need for our members to continue to adapt their businesses in these times of change and challenge for our industry.”

Presentations will include a strategic update and market outlook by The Travel Network Group’s senior management team and talks from a number of external speakers, including ex John Lewis customer service guru Andrew McMillan and businessman and philanthropist Billy Gammon.

Andy Cohen of the CAA and Damon Wright of MacIntyre Hudson will address ATOL reform, TOMS, Flight Plus and the changes to the Package Travel Directive, to ensure that delegates are fully aware of the changes the industry is undergoing in the future. Simon Ferguson of Travelport will be talking about how delegates can take advantage of new technologies.

Delegates will also hear from members who have put in place highly successful innovations to shape their future in their businesses – including one member who has gone ‘brochure-less’.

A wide range of business-focused workshop activities hosted throughout the conference will ensure that members come away with new ideas on how to innovate, energise and grow their businesses.

Over the course of the 2-day conference there will additionally be ample opportunities for members to meet with over 60 of the Group’s business partners, during the Business Partner Forum.

During their time at Lake Bled delegates will have time to experience what the destination has to offer. The Conference Welcome Party, overlooking the Lake, and Gala Dinner and Awards evening in the destination’s 5-star hotel – The Toplice - are sure to provide stunning backdrops for the conference’s social activities.

For the first time many delegates will travel to Slovenia on a specially chartered conference aircraft with ADRIA - the country’s national carrier – which has been contracted by The Travel Network Group to fly delegates from Stansted to Ljubljana.

“Feedback from our last conference told us what members want to get from conference: great networking opportunities with colleagues and the trade; good speakers who can give practical skills and insights that they can implement when they return to work; experience of a new destination; and some fun,” added Mr Lewis. “We believe that we have the balance just right for our conference in Lake Bled for it to be not only a very worthwhile event, but a hugely motivational experience,” he said.

“With trading conditions likely to remain tough, and changes in industry policy and consumer behaviour changing all the time members need to be prepared to adapt and innovate. We are confident that the agenda we have planned will be hugely beneficial in all these respects,” he continued.

“We are hosting this year’s conference in a very special location. Lake Bled is sure to be big hit with delegates and we are very grateful to the Slovenian Tourist Board for hosting what is sure to be a very successful event,” concluded Mr Lewis.
